International Middle School
The
International Middle School is recognised by ECIS
(European Council of International Schools). ECIS is the most important
association of international schools worldwide and accepts only schools
of a high standard.
The International Middle School is a bilingual school for students from the
ages of 11-13 and the curriculum is a blend of the Italian and English
systems, creating a coherent balance between the methodologies and
approaches of both educational systems. We aim to prepare the students
for the challenges they will face in the future, not only by giving
them a sound educational basis but also placing this within a
multi-cultural framework.
The curriculum
extends the students' English through lessons in English language and
literature, Science, Geography, Citizenship and RE while Italian
language and literature, Maths and Art are delivered in Italian. There
are also subjects delivered in both languages; History, Design and
Technology, IT and painting. A third language is also obligatory (a
choice between German and Spanish) and the students can choose to study
French as an extra option if they wish.
Both the Italian
and the English-speaking staff are highly qualified and get the most
from the students, further developing their linguistic skills with
afternoon workshops, school trips and an annual trip to London, Scotland and other resorts in United Kingdom or USA. We also
aim to offer cultural exchanges with other international schools, and
thereby develop the students both linguistically and culturally by
offering them experience of other schools and cultures. The students
also have the opportunity to take language exams externally, through
Cambridge, Goethe and Cervantes.
The scope of the
curriculum means that the students receive an education designed to
meet their individual needs, develop their skills and allow them to
reach their true potential.
